Martin Hederos and Mariam Wallentin!

May 23, 2023

Diacerts has since 2017 been a much-appreciated feature of the Live at Heart festival. The concept has been developed by the festival’s partner Studieförbundet Bilda and is a combination of dialogue and concert. Artists and musicians perform songs in a stripped down format and talk about life and music in a conversation. During Live at Heart, the diacerts are led by Magnus Sundell, journalist and event producer at Studieförbundet Bilda.

– "It's always a pleasure to lead diacerts at Live at Heart", says Magnus. "... To get to go a little deeper and listen to the stories and the person behind the music and the song – and that way maybe get to hear the music in a new way".

Live at Heart and Studieförbundet Bilda are proud to present two diacerts at Örebro Concert Hall during this years festival:

MARTIN HEDEROS

Martin Hederos is one of Sweden's most active, versatile and sought-after musicians with extensive experience as a musician in a number of different contexts and genres. Rock musician in world famous Soundtrack of Our Lives, progressive jazz pianist in one of Sweden’s biggest jazz exports Tonbruket, member of the giant jazz collective Fire! Orchestra, keyboard – and fiddle – player behind artists such as Ane Brun and Anna Ternheim, part of a series of duo projects with artists and musicians such as Mattias Hellberg, Nino Ramsby, Sofia Karlsson and Nina Persson. He has appeared on countless recordings and has released three solo records, the latest “Martin Hederos c/o Satie” came out this year. He is a multiple Grammis Award winner, most recently 2023 with his jazz band Hederosgruppen. Together with Irya Gmeyner (April Snow) he has composed music for TV series and films, including “Tunna blå linjen” and “Comedy Queen”. (The diacert is held in Swedish.)

MARIAM WALLENTIN

Mariam Wallentin listens to her heart when she makes music for all the senses. With her roots partly in improvisation, partly in pop and soul, she has made music in several areas: She is one half of Wildbirds & Peacedrums and one of the creative forces in the jazz collective Fire! Orchestra. She has toured with St Vincent, Joanna Newsom and Arcade Fire and sang for Björk during the Polar Music Prize. She has worked with bands such as Deerhof and Konono no 1, toured with Icelandic and Australian choirs, international string ensembles, symphony orchestras and wind symphonies. She has composed music for TV series, most recently for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi drama "Raised by wolves". Mariam is a bonus member of The Skull Defekts, has collaborated with Damien Rice and Feist, guested on Leonard Cohen’s last album and recently composed a visual song cycle about our deepest longing, "The Wishing Well".

In 2012, she started the more pop-oriented project Mariam The Believer, with which she has released two albums and a number of EPs on her own label Repeat Until Death. A third album, “Breathing Techniques”, is now recorded and soon ready to be released.

During Live at Heart, Mariam Wallentin finally returns to her hometown Örebro to perform her music. She is joined musically on stage by Martin Hederos. (The diacert is held in Swedish.)
