The Livelong June

The title "criminally underrated" fully applies to The Livelong June from Sweden. For around eight years, the project has walked the path of greatest resistance, producing electronic pop with plenty of dirt and edges. The anarchistic attitude of their compositions is clearly punk, the sound dares the free-spirited electronic pioneers of the early 80's, but the crystal-clear production leaves no doubt that The Livelong June is a child of the 21st century. Due to Benny Gustavsson's distinctive voice, an electronic version of Placebo constantly springs to mind when describing the sound of The Livelong June. Their sound is an escape from everyday life, their current album refines the duo's sonic vision so that the songs master the difficult balancing act between mass-compatible catchiness and subcultural standards very well and seemingly effortlessly. One can only hope that The Livelong June continues to gain fans and listeners. You fucking deserve it!”
