Viktor Olsson is awarded Live at Hearts songwriter scholarship 2018

Aug 8, 2018

The musician and songwriter Viktor Olsson debuted in 2015 with the album “Stenungsund”. An album that was acclaimed by critics as well as listeners, with texts about growing in a small town and longing for both to stay and want to move on. The album was recorded during a summer in Gotland together with Peter Morén and Tobias Fröberg. This fall he is up to date with a new album and he will do two performances during this year’s Live at Heart.

“To few people know about Viktor Olsson. His debut album is one of the strongest debuts in Swedish recent years,” says Magnus Tunmats at Live at Heart. Viktor became acquainted with television appearances, debut prize by Mauro Scocco, and played before Anna Ternheim on her tour. We would like to help through the scholarship to give him good conditions for his creation here in Örebro so that he can spread his amazing music in the world.

“A big part of Live to Hearts’s purpose is to give musicians the opportunity to grow and develop. Viktor Olsson is a worthy fellow and I look forward to following him as an artist, “says Åke Lundström, CEO of Live at Heart.

Motivation of the jury:

“With kickback in the Swedish singer-songwriter tradition, Viktor Olsson finds his own expression with a mix of pop, rock and soul. With earthy bittersweet lyrics that finds its way straight into our hearts, he is on the right track to become one of our biggest pop stars. From the salty rocks in Stenungsund – to Örebro – and further out in the world. ”

The scholarship is awarded during the Live at Heart festival opening ceremony and consists of two weeks’ accommodation at Elite Stora Hotellet and one week’s admission to the recording studio at the University of Music at Örebro University.
