Joel Dinerstein (USA)

Joel Dinerstein is the author of The Origins of Cool in Postwar America (Chicago 2017), American Cool (Prestel 2014), Coach: A Story of NY Cool (Rizzoli 2016), and Swinging the Machine (2003). I am a Professor of English and American Studies at Tulane University and I’ve taught a course on The History of Cool for 20 years. I hold a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Texas (Austin) and my research focuses on the intersections of race, music, and cool, modernity and popular culture, literature and ethnicity.
