Christian Gisborne, founder of Northern California’s Velvet Starlings, is a teen aged 60’s British Invasion influenced Indie Rock, instrumentalist, lead singer and front man, whose powerful lead vocals and stage performances have been likened to that of Eric Burdon and Jack White. He was invited last summer to perform for internationally renowned PBS-distributed multimedia show “WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour”, a celebration of grassroots music filmed before a live audience in Lexington, Kentucky. He and his band recently performed on the same bill with Robbie Krieger (The Doors) at a sold out private Gibson Showroom event in Beverly Hills, where in 2017 they also shared the stage with Sweden’s Indie pop artists “The Magnettes” Velvet Starlings kicked off 2018 with stellar performances at San Diego’s 8th Annual Springboard West Festival at the Ocean Beach Theater and sold-out Sofar Sounds Los Angeles. Velvet Starlings recently performed at the historical 1000 capacity theater, The El Rey in Northern California, and was once again featured on Action News Now TV. In March he returned from a successful tour to Austin, TX for SXSW, along with his label mates, MAWD and KLEZ, where they all brought down the house, so to speak. The Velvets performed with established indie rock bands from all around the world. The response from corporate sponsors and talent buyers was incredible. As a result the band was invited to perform in the UK and Europe this summer and have upcoming performances. The band already been announced by Sweden’s Live at Heart Festival and is officially on the line up. The band will also release and be promoting their self titled debut EP this Summer before they hit the road. Fans of the The Stones, Beatles, The Doors, White Stripes & Arctic Monkeys will dig the Velvet Starlings.
